Expanding service delivery for current prevention tools and improving introduction and scale-up of cutting-edge tools like injectable PrEP

Dr. Gift Kawalazira,

Director of Health and Social Services,

Blantyre District Council

Chimwemwe Mablekisi, Statistical Officer,

Blantyre DHO

Program planning has become more efficient as timely data analysis and action prevents delays in service provisions. However program execution is a concern because there is a clear pointer to guide where to go, where to put our efforts and concentrate our resources.

Since PrEP is a new intervention, we have to consider issues of uptake, but also retention as well. Through community labs, it has helped to increase uptake of PrEP, but also the continuation of PrEP through those quality improvements.

Assistant Environmental Health Officer

BPS gives us an opportunity to adapt our learnings to the priorities that will be incorporated in the HIV sustainability framework. We would want to sustain the gains that we've made as a country, but at the same time also fill the gaps at the national level. The learnings from BPS are ones that we've noted are key in sustaining the response.
